19 Series Linear Magnetostrictive Sensor

The Germanjet 19 series non-contact absolute position magnetostrictive sensor is specially designed for use in many harsh process applications such as refining, petrochemicals, power generation, and even pharmaceuticals. Beside available for basic analogue output, it coexists alongside with other communication interface such as CANbus, Profibs, SSI and Start/Stop.

The transducer is available in hydraulic rod style, aluminium profile, and detachable model. All models rated for IP67 which offers full protection against outside agents for use in harsh environments with high contamination and presence of dust. The connector is common for field connection.

Magnetostrictive Technology

The fundamental principle of the Germanjet position transducer is by analysing the feedback sonic wave induced by an interaction of two magnetic fields. The first magnetic field is produced by the moveable magnetic cursor which attached at the moving component of a machine. The second field is generated by the pulse initiator. After the two magnetic fields interact, a sonic wave is induced and detected by the sonic wave analyser.

By examining the characteristic of the wave pattern, the embedded microprocessor is able to generate the corresponding analog output signal to indicate the position of the machine. As a result, precise non-contact position is achieved with absolutely no wear to the sensing components.

The Advantages of Magnetostrictive Sensing

  • Germanjet transducer adopted the non-contact ultrasonic measuring technology for precise, direct and absolute measurement.
  • The absence of electrical contact on the cursor eliminates all wear and guarantees almost unlimited mechanical life expectancy.
  • The non-contact (Floating) cursor provides exceptional ease of installation with a variety of available cursor position target.
  • The high versatile profile housing offers full protection against outside agents for use in harsh environments with high contamination and presence of dust. Mounting is accomplished using clamps that allow precise mechanical adjustment.
